Ordinary Obsessions is a compelling, multi-layered narrative that weaves together the threads of history, culture, politics, and personal relationships in a moving story of conflict and hope. Two families, one American and one Afghani, are bonded together by necessity and choice. The members of each find inspiration and solace in one another as cultural and political tensions beset and challenge them.  Relational twists and turns are played out against a background of religious conflict in Afghanistan and a conservative insurgency at home. In the face of cultural impediments and ideological threat, each seeks their individual path in life, their singular moral compass, and their personal identity. This is a story that taps the most fundamental questions we all face…who are we, and what are meant to do in life?
